Why are there roosters everywhere in Key West? Sho Why are there roosters everywhere in Key West?
Short answer: they were here before the tourists.

Long answer: In the 1800s, Cuban and Bahamian immigrants brought chickens with them for food and cockfighting. When cockfighting was banned and refrigeration arrived, the birds were released… and promptly decided they liked island life. No predators. Warm weather. Endless confidence.

Today, the roosters of Key West are protected by local ordinance, completely unbothered by humans, and absolutely convinced they run the place.
They strut. They crow at inappropriate hours. They pose like this.

Love them or side eye them, they’re living history with feathers and frankly, they know it. #KeyWest #IslandHistory #LocalLegends #RoosterEnergy #OldTownKeyWest

This session felt exactly like a vacation should, relaxed, connected, and completely unforced. Neutral tones, salty air, kids in motion… and a dog who somehow matched the color palette like it was planned (it absolutely wasn’t, but we’ll take the win 🐾).

These are the moments that matter most the ones that feel like being present.

Florida Keys family photography at its finest.
